John and susan lyons

Hello, my name is John Lyons.  My wife, Susan, and I were actively involved in our churches in Cornell and Odell, Illinois, where I also served as part-time clergy for Trinity Parish in Livingston County.  Coming from small communities, we felt called to continue our ministry in Pittsfield, Illinois and began serving at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church on July 1, 2023.

Since arriving, our time here has been exciting, rewarding and deeply fulfilling.  Together, we are blessed with a blended family of four children and several grandchildren who bring us great joy. We have truly enjoyed becoming part of this welcoming and supportive community, and it is an honor to serve both the church and the people of Pike County.

Easter Flower Fund and Photo Opportunity

This year, we are once again excited to celebrate the Blooming Cross on Easter Sunday, a beautiful tradition that fills our sanctuary with vibrant flowers. If you would like to donate to the Easter Flower Fund in memory or honor of a loved one, we will list your memorial in the bulletin as usual. However, please note that the flowers will be used during the service and will not be available to take home afterward, as they have been in the past.

Additionally, we are pleased to offer each family the opportunity to have a professional photographer take one family photo in front of the blooming cross. This will allow you to enjoy the beauty of the cross while capturing a lasting memory of your family during this special time.

We hope you will join us for worship on Easter Sunday to experience the service and the Blooming Cross in person.

Thank you for your continued support and for making this Easter season meaningful.

Blessings,
Pastor John
