Meet Our pastor

Hello, my name is John Lyons.  My wife, Susan, and I were actively involved in our churches in Cornell and Odell, Illinois, where I also served as part-time clergy for Trinity Parish in Livingston County.  Coming from small communities, we felt called to continue our ministry in Pittsfield, Illinois and began serving at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church on July 1, 2023.  

Since arriving, our time here has been exciting, rewarding and deeply fulfilling.  Together, we are blessed with a blended family of four children and several grandchildren who bring us great joy. We have truly enjoyed becoming part of this welcoming and supportive community, and it is an honor to serve both the church and the people of Pike County.  




Angels:  More Real than you Think

Have you ever had a moment in life that made you stop and wonder if there was something more going on than what you could see? Maybe it was a close call on the road. Maybe it was a situation that somehow worked out when it shouldn't have. Maybe it was a person showing up at just the right time. A lot of people are calling those things "coincidence" or "luck".  But what if there's more to it than that?   

This Sunday, we'll be talking about a subject that has fascinated people for generations: 

"Angels:  More real than you think"


We're going to look at what the Bible really says about angels, how they work, and why this matters to everyday people living everyday lives right here in Pike County.  This message isn't about strange theories or spooky stories. It's about hope. It's about realizing that God may be closer and more active in your life than you ever imagined.
