Meet Our pastor

Hello, my name is John Lyons. My wife, Susan, and I were actively involved in our churches in Cornell and Odell, Illinois, where I also served as part-time clergy for Trinity Parish in Livingston County. Coming from small communities, we felt called to continue our ministry in Pittsfield, Illinois and began serving at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church on July 1, 2023.

Since arriving, our time here has been exciting, rewarding and deeply fulfilling. Together, we are blessed with a blended family of four children and several grandchildren who bring us great joy. We have truly enjoyed becoming part of this welcoming and supportive community, and it is an honor to serve both the church and the people of Pike County.

Some of life's hardest moments leave us wondering, "Should I accept this, or should I try to change it?" We sometimes fight battles we cannot win, while other times we give up on something God is calling us to face. This Sunday, join us for "The Wisdom to know the difference" as we discover how prayer, Scripture and trusted people can help us make difficult decisions.
